As per the title really. I know someone will say ring recruitment! lol But as I'm on here, thought I would ask anyway.
Reason being, I'm applying as a Prison officer through Serco but would also like to apply as a SPC, is this a conflict of interest?
Potentially, nick em, process em an then be jailing for em!

Have a read of the following, looks like you wouldn't be inelligible but could only be appointed at the discretion of the chief officer:
Certain occupations make a person ineligible for appointment to, or retention in the Special Constabulary:
The armed forces
Traffic wardens, school crossing patrols and parking attendants
Neighbourhood and street wardens and other uniformed patrol wardens
Highways Agency Traffic Officers
Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs)
Employers police forces and private constabularies.
Those involved in the administration of the law, e.g. members of police authorities, magistrates, clerks
to justices, and clerks to courts are ineligible to be appointed as special constables.
Occupations where staff are eligible to be appointed as special constables subject to agreement of their
employer and at the discretion of the Chief Officer:
Armed forces reserves
The fire service
Occupations with client privilege
Members of the medical and health professions
Holder (and their partners) of liquor licenses, managers of licensed houses, licensees of betting/gaming
premises
Probation officers and youth and social workers involved in the administration of criminal law
Bailiffs, warrant officers, private detectives and inquiry agents
Employees of security organisations and security personnel, guards and doormen
Civilian staff employed by police authorities
Prison Officers and prisons administrative staff

If you're applying through Serco, then I'd imagine you'll be involved in transporting "service-users" to/from Police stations, Courts and prisons. I wouldn't have thought this makes you a Prison Officer as such. Neither would I imagine it is covered under "administration of law".
I might be wrong though.

Serco have the contract to run HMP Lowdham Grange. All the staff there are employed via serco. A friend of mine is a PCO at Uttoxeter through serco. They are running quite a few these days I think
