Hi willy,

All forces differ, some PCSOs have be allocated powers and some either have limited powers or none.  I have limited powers at the moment, however, thats changing in the new year.  I have found since being in the Police as a PCSO for 2 years, everything changes... The role is always evolving.  Re: detaining, you can for 30 mins until the arrival of a Police Officer or take the person in question to the Police Station if they wish to do so.  In my force we are not allowed to man handle but I believe that may be different in other forces.

I just wish someone would make the role set and that every force follows the same script.  I think it's too confusing for not only the public but Police staff also.
