PCSO'S ARE A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY.

POLICING ON THE CHEAP AND ALL THEY DO IS GET ASSAULTED AND CALL FOR HELP WHICH DIVERTS POLICE TIME AND RESOURCES.

POLICE CONSTABLES AND SPECIAL CONSTABLES ALL THE WAY WITH COMMUNITY WARDENS FOR COMMUNITY WATCH NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH SCHEMES TO AID ALL POLICE CONSTABLES.

PCSO HAVE NO POWERS COMPARED A PC, AND SHOULD NOT HAVE.
THEY SHOULD BE KNOCK OFF AND I BELIEVE GOVT FUNDING HAS ALREADY BEEN CUT FOR THEM

PC,S ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!

The above are 3 posts I moved to the restricted section as I felt they offered nothing to the thread they were part of and would only serve to annoy members. I have reinstated the posts as a seperate thread as Beechy claims that all of the above is fact. Now I understand different people have different opinions on pcso's but putting these posts back in the open forum will open up beechy's comments to a wider audience and maybe get a more balanced response rather than my opinion against beechy's.

Must have different PCSO's to us then ! They have less power and they know it, but they still come to work and put up the same sh** I do. They do a bloody good job.

Firstly - a bit of house keeping - Don't post in caps lock - see rule number 5 of the Posting guidelines, and before starting a thread please use the search facility to look for any related existing threads. The guidelines are posted here Please take a moment of two to read them.

On to your subject, taking each point in turn...

This is your opinion, this if not fact, my opinion is different.

PCSOs aren't actually that 'cheap', regarding the comment about getting assaulted. Very few in my area have been, and far from spending all their time getting assaulted and calling for help, they're too busy working on operations, devising operations to run with specials and working with the community policing teams to tackle problem areas.

So in your opinion you'd deny a community extra pairs of trained eyes and ears. While Special constables have their uses in community policing, due to the very nature of the specials, they are often unavailable to work in the day and often cannot put sufficient hours in to tackle a community case from beginning to end.

PCSOs have in fact limited powers compared to a PC, as from your logic, the inference would be that the public had negative powers - an impossibility, as I'm sure you're aware

Ours don't have shiny raincoats - hope none read this or they'll be a stampede at stores. Seriously though you are contradicting yourself already in this thread - in only 3 posts, as PCSOs have gone from doing nothing but getting assaulted and calling for help, to being fully fledged social workers (a difficult and highly commendable job)...

It does reduce any 'credibility' in this thread.

Many of the doorstaff and guards on my area would scoff at the though of being an officer, they're on far better money, for a lot less bother.

I don't think you've really thought your posting through before submitting - this is a discussion board, not a rant board.

My advice, Beechy, would be to hide your computer before you go to the pub.

The PCSOs in my area do a fantastic job and, to be fair, I wouldn't want to do their job.

In my opinion there is a need for a police presence to be in the community, something that wouldn't be possible without them.

There is a need for the closer link between the community and the police so job done.

Only negative I would have is the time that some of the PCSOs in my station do hide from the beat, but that's not a moan about the role. That's just me who's still learning and still wrong about most things.

Pray tell, Beechy, what good thing did you do today?

Beechy, are you a police officer? You don't say in your posts, but I seriously doubt it, coming out with such claptrap.

If you are an officer, please explain what has led you to your conclusions. If not please go away.

Hmm, a longing for the past and an inability to move forward into the present?...

Looks like 10 out of 10 PCs who expressed a preference disagree with Beechy. Nuff said.
