A deranged sniper holed up in a "millionaires' row" died last night after a shootout with cops.
Armed officers stormed the building in the climax to a tense, five-hour siege.
madman, who had blasted away with a double-barrelled shotgun, is believed to have been killed and not to have turned the gun on himself.

Britain's Home Secretary Jacqui Smith says police should turn the tables on young thugs who terrorise neighbourhoods by filming and harassing them at home.
She wants officers to target the seven per cent of offenders who continually engage in anti-social behaviour, with extra checks to see if dues like their road tax and TV licences have been paid.
"If persistent offenders know they're able to get away with it, then they will, by definition, persistently offend. They will try it on again and again," she said in a speech.

Massive investment in CCTV cameras to prevent crime in the UK has failed to have a significant impact, despite billions of pounds spent on the new technology, a senior police officer piloting a new database has warned. Only 3% of street robberies in London were solved using CCTV images, despite the fact that Britain has more security cameras than any other country in Europe.
The warning comes from the head of the Visual Images, Identifications and Detections Office (Viido) at New Scotland Yard as the force launches a series of initiatives to try to boost conviction rates using CCTV evidence. They include:
